Carlo Collodi writes great truths in his book about work and learning. Geppetto would like to teach Pinocchio to be an honest and hardworking man, but Pinocchio tries to get rid of learning and work. The Cricket would also like to teach him, but in vain. Pinocchio has to experience what he could have avoided such as gaining money dishonestly and living without work leads him into prison and almost into death.
"Woe to boys who refuse to obey their parents and run away from home! They will never be happy in this world, and when they are older they will be very sorry for it." (Collodi)
It is not a problem, that Pinocchio wants to play, but the problem is, that he would like to just play and not learn or work. Every child should realize that everybody has duties: children less, adults more. This is the only way to become responsible adults.
The Adventures of Pinocchio is a very interesting novel especially if it includes great worksheets and other games. You can read the story together as a family, you can make the lapbook and talk about the important issues and values of the story.
The lapbook material is organised in such a way that all age levels between 4-13 can find useful and interesting activities. Look through the lapbook and print only those pages that you need. There are many activities that are divided according to two age levels. This is a PDF file that you can download.
